A Funny Thing Happened is our big summer release for Summer, 2010! Written by Lester Colodny, an Emmy Award-winning writer, producer and director who, at age eighty-five, is finally telling his collection of his life stories. Colodny spent most of the 1960s working on such classic television series as The Munsters, Get Smart, My Favorite Martian, and Beetle Bailey. He directed Frank Sinatra in several commercials for Steve Wynn’s casino chain in the 1970s and worked with Mel Brooks when Brooks was just an office gopher, trying to work his way into the movie business. He was also a writer for The Today Show with original host Dave Garroway and Florence Henderson. Colodny’s book reads like the life he led (and continues to live) in television, movies and theatre. He tells of triumphs and failures, ups and downs, from facing near-certain death to hosting a simple get-together that turned into a grand bacchanalia with the decade’s biggest stars. Marty Brill, of All in the Family and Three’s Company wrote of the book: “Since the very inception of show business both laughter and tragedy, side by side, have been its symbol. And under the surface of every side-splitting tale Lester tells is that ever present poignant layer of sadness. It's a hell of a read!” A Funny Thing Happened contains nearly forty photographs, including previously unreleased photos of The Beatles, and very rare images of Frank Sinatra and Dolly Parton. The foreword for the book is written by Elizabeth Hendrickson, star of The Young and the Restless. Our best-selling book is Weather Facts and Fun, a children's book on weather, written by WMUR TV-9 meteorologist Josh Judge and award-winning NH middle school science teacher Kathe Cussen. This book is geared to second to fourth grades, and it is written with the help of children from around New Hampshire. Weather Facts and Fun has already been adopted by several New Hampshire school districts, both for use as a text and in their classroom libraries. On March 22nd, 2010, we released the new New England edition of the book, expanded to include new pictures, facts and more from around New England. Full of activities and experiments, this book makes learning fun! Coming in November of 2010 is eXtreme New England Weather by Josh Judge, with contributions from nearly twenty of New England's top meterorogists, scientists, weather organizations and television celebrities. Our current titles also include two short story collections from NH writers, Carved in Granite and Carved in Granite 2. We produced the original look at the historic ice storm and blackout of 2008, a full-color collection of pictures and stories from around the Granite State, Black Ice: The Beauty and Destruction of New Hampshire’s Great Ice Storm and Blackout of 2008 and more.
